FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What does your organization do? Tell me a little about your Foundation?
Our Foundation raises funds within our community to ensure our local hospital has the right piece of medical equipment, at the right time, to save lives. Every dollar donated stays right here in Prince Albert and goes toward improving our local healthcare and reducing the need to travel to other centres.
What about this talk of a new hospital? What is your Foundation’s position?
We are encouraged by each discussion that takes place. When the announcement is made, we will begin the work of establishing how we will support. In the meantime, our physicians and nurses are doing a remarkable job under difficult circumstances, and our Foundation continues to work alongside our community to ensure the best possible healthcare is available today.
Shouldn’t the government pay for all this? Why are we fundraising?
Across Canada, a hospital’s operating costs are covered by the government. However, the cost for capital (new equipment, furniture, etc.) almost always falls to the community.
Where is the Foundation office located?
We are located in Victoria Square, upstairs in room 206. Please follow the directional signage once inside. Our office is adjacent to Autism Services.
Where does my money go?
The money that you donate to the Victoria Hospital Foundation stays in our hospital. We work directly with the hospital to purchase much needed medical equipment. If you’d like your donation to go to a specific are in the hospital, please let us know.
